Renting a Car
A car gives you the most flexibility to explore beaches, neighborhoods, and day trips. Book early — rates at San Diego Airport are competitive. All major rental companies are on-site.
Pro tip: Avoid driving downtown on weekends. Parking in the Gaslamp can run $25–$40. Use street parking in East Village instead.

The Trolley
San Diego's MTS Trolley connects downtown, Old Town, Mission Valley, and the border. The Blue Line runs to the Convention Center and Gaslamp District. Day passes are just $7.
Pro tip: The Orange Line takes you directly toward Old Town's great historic sites and beyond.

Bikes & E-Scooters
Lime and Bird e-scooters are everywhere and perfect for beach areas. For Mission Beach and Pacific Beach, nothing beats the boardwalk on two wheels.
Pro tip: The Bayshore Bikeway is a 24-mile protected path circling the entire bay — one of the best urban cycling routes in America.
