Worth the Drive

Safari Park, Legoland, and the Carlsbad Flower Fields are all located in North County — approximately one hour north of Downtown San Diego. Plan for a full day and build in the drive time both ways. These are not walkable from your hotel — you'll need a car or a rideshare. That said, each one is genuinely worth the trip.

Fifty acres of giant ranunculus blooms carpeting the Carlsbad hillside in bold reds, oranges, pinks, and yellows — one of the most stunning sights in all of Southern California. Open March through mid-May only, so plan accordingly. Best visited on a clear morning when the colors are most vivid. Bonus: the fields are right next door to LEGOLAND, making it an easy combo day for the whole family.
